IIRC the 96 and newer axles should bolt right in.
And yes, in some cases the D80 is considered a 1 ton axle. But they can be found in 3/4 format.
Also, pretty much all Dodge trucks came with 3.55 gears so, yeah, you'll likely find an axle with 3.55's.

Dana80 rear end can be found in the RAM 2500 diesel trucks with the manual transmissions. automatics had the Dana70. the 4x4 Ram 2500's with dana80 only came in 2 gear ratios: 4.10 and 3.54. the rear end supports more ratios than that, but the dana60 front does not...

Since you already have a 3/4 ton, D80 should bolt right in. There might be some differences in yoke size between the two.... not sure on that. I think 3/4 tons with diesels, and manual trans had the 80..... There were some minor changes over the years, but, I think anything from 94 to 02 should work. I think......

Ummmm... You can get r&p sets for a 60 ranging from 3.07 to 7.17... lol

Off the top of my head: 3.07 3.54/3.55 3.73 4.10 4.30 4.56 4.88 5.13 5.38 5.86 6.17 6.50 7.17

for a reverse rotation dana 60... as in dana60 on the FRONT axle. I checked and couldn't find any ring and pinion sets for a D60R lower than 3.54 that a D80 will also support.

sure you can find them for a D60 rear, but the fronts are more limited.

I would be happy if you can prove me wrong though because I would love to have taller gearing than 3.54!!! I got more than enough power to turn the gears, and 1st gear is so low I NEVER use it...

Front axles aren't reverse rotation. That's for the high pinion D60's.

Like HeyYou said, we have low pinion dana 60 front ends. Same exacte gearset used in a dana 60 rear end. So there are a gazillion r&p setups for it.

On another note, there are tons of different gearing options for the reverse rotation (high pinion) axles too...

Also, your NV5600 is a granny gear 6 speed. 1st gear was never meant to be used on the road unless you were pulling something ridiculously heavy, so in your 1100 ft-lb case, maybe an aircraft carrier.

Changed seal in right side, no problems all normal.

QUESTION:
What torque do you use for the 8 bolts, axel to hub?
I found in book 90 ft pounds, but during disassembely seemed about 70.

What lube seems best? Think I'll change from MOPAR.

Thanks

Not finding a value in the 96 service manual......

Do you tow with your truck? If so, use the 75/140 synthetic stuff. If not, 80w90 will be fine.

98 service manual says 90, as does the Haynes.
