How to tell what transmission I have?
I don't really plan on changing to the 4500 unless something happens to my current transmission. I don't really drive it too hard usually shift at just over 2k rpm.
But yes a standard tranny was a must have for me when I was looking to by a truck. To be honest the only automatic I owned was an 06 GMC Canyon and my wife and I eneded up trading it in on a 2012 Hyundai Tuscon which is also a stick, (it is her car before you get on me about owning an import haha)

You should be fine with your nv3500, they are a good reliable transmission when taken care of, and not abused (which you say you don't do).
