2500 rearend questions
you are barking up the wrong tree, first off no you cannot keep the 5 lug axles those are 28 spline i believe, the 2500 are 31 or 35, not to mention the size difference, how much are you towing? you can change all of that if you wanted but then you are risking your frame. 1/2 ton frames are not as stout as the 3/4 or 1tons.
My 60 has 30 spline shafts.
A Dana 80 has 35 spline shafts from the factory.
All of these axles were available in 2nd gen 2500's.
Also, 1/2 ton and 3/4 ton frames are identical.

My truck is a 01 2wd. I feel like its overloaded when I put 6k on it but I'll pull that weight up to 100 miles a day. The rear does sag some. I was thinking of just swapping to some 2500 springs to stiffen it up and give it a slight lift but I hate the damn stock open rear. I can not afford to buy a 3/4 ton but I do have access to a 3/4 ton for parts.
Assuming automatic trans?
Also be careful with some 2500 springs cause some are 3" wide vs our stock 2.5".
Could always look into upgrading leaf springs> http://www.generalspringkc.com/index...arent=121&pg=1
Most factory 2nd gen (94-01) rear axles were basically open design with a clutch pack limited slip.
Did not know that about the frames.
Take 2 friggin minutes and add the damn info about your truck to your profile . So we all don't have to keep answering/asking the same questions over and over. Is it really that hard? Damn You want help made easier or what? I don't care if you don't like me now or care what I say, but please , help out the other members that are going to try and answer your questions in the future. Good luck bud.
Yes it is hard for me. I'm doing all these post from my phone. My computer is in the shop and I have been working 12-14 hrs a day. I will try to fix it though to rectify the problem.
Truck has 5.2L with a k&n 14x3 and a flowmaster 1 in 2 out exhasust. Automatic transmission rebuilt 18k ago or so supposedly with a shift kit and a stall converter, can't remember stall speed though. I have also replaced all ball joints, tie rod ends, sway bar parts, and shocks. Though I should not have bought the kyb gr2s. They are already wore out.
Tomorrow I have to haul 9k about 65 miles....i will probably use my bosses truck though it's a super duty.
What Engine you have 5.2L (318) or 5.9L (360) or 6.2?L (V10)...

Thanks for the info. I think I read somewhere on here before about the spring widths but I had completely forgot it.
I will have to stick to second hand parts due to budget restrictions.
