hi I have a rattle/grinding noise in the transfer case on my 01 ram 1500 .it's there in drive and revers 2 or 4x4 i can also hear it if 4x4 shifter is in N and i pull the truck in drive or revers .i checked the fluid and it was low so drained the fluid it was dark but there was no shavings in it.topped it up but noise is stall there any thoughts on what it could be.thanks for any tips you might have.big show

 

Drop the rear driveshaft, pull the tail housing off the t-case, and check and see if the snap ring has abandoned the shaft.
