Default 5.9 engine swap

will a 5.9 out of a 2003 fit my 2001 ram truck
how do i know what year the engine came out of for sure

Not a direct swap. Lots of fabrication work. Best bet is just sell your truck and buy what ya want

how do i know what year motor is for sure by looking at the guy not sure what year it is

Erm, the 5.9 should drop right in. Just use the sensors and such off of your 01. The 5.7, on the other hand..... THAT would be an exercise.

Was the 5.9L still available in '03?

Not sure, maybe in the heavier trucks..... perhaps the OP just has a typo, and he MEANT 5.7???

A 5.9 was indeed available in 03. 2500's and up.

I thought the 5.9 was inly offered up to late 02... that's new but good to know

OP is your truck a 5.9 v8 or a 5.9 Cummins? If you are talking about swapping the diesels it will be complicated. If you are talking about v8's, the above information applies.
