I used a long punch, stuck it in one of the bolt holes, and just wiggled it a bit, and the cap came off. Yeah, they do tend to hang on fairly tight.

ok ill keep trying, also while i was giving this a break i was finishing up the timing. Im installing the new seal but what about this sleeve? Ive read it goes over the harmonic balancer but what if mines smooth? Can i just put it on anyway? Just didnt want to go back to the parts store if not needed.

If you have the gasket, an the timing cover isn't bent up or anything. Just clean all the surfaces Very thoroughly and pop it on

its not the gasket its the seal, i no the seal with the sleeve the inside diameter is a lil bigger to accomodate the sleeve. my harmonic balancer is smooth so i dont really need the repair sleeve but dont really want to go drive to the parts store to get the "normal" crank seal.also i got my cap off should i put oil on the rear main before installation or do it dry, if oil where should i put it.

See how the seal fits on your balancer. If it will seal. don't worry about it, if it won't, you can either return the gasket kit, and get the one without the sleeve, or, try and install that damn sleeve. I have found they are a pain..... I would rather just replace the balancer, than try and get the crazy sleeve to go on there.

Knock it in flush.

I am impressed you got that sleeve on there. I have zero success with those....
