i like to get one of those metra plugs when i did mine. you can make all the connections at the table and then take it out to the truck and plug it in.

I went to advantance auto and got and pioneer the guy said it would work I got home and the directions say I need all this stuff I figured it was gonna be a direct plug in. Do they make aftermarket ones that are direct plug in? I'm not the best at wiring and try to avoid it

Provided the wires in the dash haven't been cut you should be able to get a wiring kit from Wal-Mart that connect's the factory wiring to aftermarket unit's.

If the wire's have been cut then you need a wiring diagram.

i got a pioneer in dash dvd/navigation unit and it works good. dunno why they suggested not to buy pioneer? most aftermarket units will be better than the stock unit.

For an aftermarket radio to fit, all car manufacturers would have to establish a standard - it ain't happening!

Read the things posted on your thread, such as the previous post (see below - I quoted it)

They had an idiot working at Advance taht day - and not one that is smart enough to say "I don't know."

Metra is the adapter plug. If I was at home I could give you the part number - but I am not. Check best Buy or somewhere like that - or their website. Do not cut and hack your wiring - you will regret it later.

This is what Stewie was referring to as well.

I know I used a Scosche harness, they're pretty good about giving you plenty of slack and it only cost me 10 bucks at Wal-Mart. Just make up your connections to the harness supplied with the radio, plug er all in and connect your ground somewhere decent (read: bare metal ground), nothing to it

I has one of those complicated ones....$200.00 innovatek off ebay... has a 5" lcd touchscreen and built in GPS, usb, micro sd and ipod inputs for media as well as a dvd/mp3/cd,tv,BT,aux input for rear camera and of course an am/fm stereo...ironically the stereo gets terrible reception...I usually listen to mp3's or stream music to it from my phone via bluetooth.
As I mentioned in another thread dont buy the 200watt speaker to go with it... you want speakers that run 25-50 watts rms around 75 to 100 watts max otherwise it often wont sound as good as the 7 watt stock system since the speakers are being underpowered and if your using stock speakers turn the bass and treble down and you'll get loader sound without distortion since they are being overpowered..
