I have the same issue with the 2-3 shift, with mine though it's usually when you get up to around 3000-3200 RPM, the shift sequence will straighten itself out and go in OD (haven't tried mine with OD off). I'm thinking the pressure solenoid myself, and I believe there was a DIY/sticky posted for such an issue where a GM EPC-style solenoid is used instead of one made for a Dodge/Chrysler. Tried the site though, and can't seem to buy, do you have to call to order this instead I wonder? Sorry for the hijack, going through the same thing myself.

3000-3200 RPM is pretty high to be going from 2nd to 3rd.

There is a service manual doenload in the FAQ/DIY section. Transmission section is very good and has troubleshooting.

That is high, mine happens around 2500 rpm but thats due to the 30-50% throttle thing im talkin about. Normally my rpms are always below 2,000

Also, instead of doing the GM conversion, which is pushing 300 bucks when all is said and done, pick up the borg warner heavy duty sensor and solenoid, which can be found on ebay for less than 100 bucks...... and they are a direct swap.

Nope. Actually, drop the pan, and there they are...... (prolly have to remove the filter as well....) Grab the 01 service manual from the faq section, procedure for changing them is in there.

Meant to ask this awhile back, but do you happen to know the P/N for the borg warner solenoid/transducer kit? Seems like a good start after getting used to ye old truck and figuring out that the downshift issue is occurring at POT, but eases out at near WOT. Thinking tranny line pressure might be flooding the solenoid, either that or the sensor is acting up.......
