Default 45 or 50 Series Tires on 3rd Gen. 20" Rims??

I just picked up a set of 3rd Generation factory 20" rims and want to have either
285/50-20 or 295/45-20 tires put on, without any clearance issues. My truck is
2nd generation, 4WD, stock height.

Anyone have either of these size tires on your 2nd Generation Ram 1500, 4WD?
Thanks.

I'm not looking to put a 33" tall tire on this truck. It's already a slug.

45 or 50 series only, in the sizes stated.

It was just a reference for size. If you are saying its already slug then don't bother going to the 20's.....

You have nothing to contribute.

He has experience, and knowledge... you would do well to listen to him.

285/50's would be 31/11.5 (or thereabouts.)
295/45's would be 30.5/11.5

Six of one, half dozen of the other. If you still have the 355 gears..... I would say go with the smaller diameter.... I think either size you will get some rubbing on the lower control arms at the steering locks..... (turned all the way, either direction)

...and 20" wheels make these trucks look like a slug imho with the exception of larger tires to fill the fenderwells.....which would require changing gears....

Oh really? Listen, I asked for specific info. I have 35 years, (that's right) of automotive
experience. I am wasting everyone's time here, as well as mine. The last engine I built
dynoed at 810RWHP and 1,150 ft./lb. V-6 turbo. 9.4@144.63MPH.

I was looking for real experience on this. Not wasting anymore time here with opinions
from those who have absolutely no REAL experience with what I asked about. This forum
is real sad.

Will find the answer elsewhere on a more TECHNICAL forum. Have a good one.

......mmm....I have never seen anyone over 35 years of expeience breathing with 20" wheels. Maybe it is just an age thing around these parts.

I would have thought that with so much experience, one would not be asking a question about wheel and tire sizes...with a 3.55 gr....

And dylter09's respinse looks relevant to me.....but that's just me....with over 35 years experience - doing realistic and practical work.

Didn't mean to **** in your Wheaties. With all of your almighty experience why come and ask us if we have nothing to contribute?? I gave you my experience and the size tire I was running which would be a max size on that 20 inch wheel. You don't want a taller tire cause your trucks a "slug" so why throw a heavier wheel on there?? Maybe you should check your plenum

That might help your trucks "sluggishness"
