You will need to order thick cut, standard rotation gears if you want to use the same carrier for your Dana 60. Same goes for your 44 up front. Thick cut, standard rotation. As long as you order these specific gear sets, along with the master install kits, you will be good to go.

May I ask why the 60 swap in the back? Aside from no c clips the strength of the 9.25 and 60 is about the same.

Better upgradability, better pinion strength ( I have heard of people having issues with 9.25 pinion bearings or something...).

Not to mention the 60 is full-floating..... so, less strain on axles.

Question Sunday reply/ I balked yesterday

Ok all, first, THANKYOU VERY MUCH FOR YOUR HELP. As the title says, I balked yesterday & decided to give it a few days before making the decision. If he has everything on Monday, I'm going for it. Sorry about posting that sep thread yesterday, understand totally on theconfusion scale!

If it's all there manana, I'm taking the"it was meant to be" rd. It all looks good! Just once I pull the "trigger" there's no going back & I wanna be sure: refering to my abilities, coupled w/ my remote location in the high central desert. It's abig jump "fome". Ain't scared, just being real...ok maybe just a little, lol

Again tks all for your help: quote:After HOURS of searching I finally found this old thread! Just what the docter ordered

https://dodgeforum.com/forum/2nd-gen-...most-done.html Tks 2x gonna check it out after this post. Understand on thick cut, std rotation, & master install kits. tks again for dat bydaway!

Wh1t3NuKle: I shoulda been a little clearer, my q about the 44 R&P was, if it can be secifically upgraded to a 4:56/ if there is enough room in the housing for this upgrade. Randy's Ring & Pinion is in Costa?? Cool beans if so!! I hear ya on the "get to work" I go back to work in early June, so def have the time, can't use that as an excuse lol.

Lastly: If anyone has the latest 4wheeler mag, the 1 w/ 101 cheap tricks, on pg 34 at the top it says "No drag disc swap":"remove the spring & rubber check valve, reinsert the brass fitting, & then re-attach the brake line to the master cyl port. This will keep the disc brakes from dragging" sounds too easy/& maybe not having to screw w/ the proportional valve?

Cheese & rice, I always seem to write a book on every post, thanks again para de ayuda por todo!!! Gonna read up/work on my trigger finger!! -N-

I'm gathering you never did any of the following:

1. Search for related threads here. They will definitely answer the question about teh D44 and what the max gear ratio is....

2. Looked at the thread I linked to that is ALL about the axles that run under the 2nd Gen trucks, including links directly to Dana.

3. Searched and called on Randy's Ring & Pinion, which is a differential shop that sells nationwide, parts for Dana axles and then some. I have no idea if they are in Costa Rica, but probably not. I only asked that to get an idea if you could actually WALK into a shop that might have some knowledge about Dana axles. So much better talking face-to-face, imo. I bet there is some experience down there given the road system in central america.

You are so very very far from Getting to Work. You being in AZ though....there are plenty of offroad shops you could look up and call. I'm only saying this bc you might not get a response here all the time, especially when all the answers ARE actually here.

Good luck

Thanks again for that info, am looking confirming online right now if I'll need the same thick cut, std rot for the 44 upfront. Any thoughts?
TKS2x...duhh, I'm an idiot, I just read your quote again & saw the 44part, aycarumba!
