sorry for not responding, been working quite a lot. might try stating with the tv cable later to see if it does anything. gonna be completely honest I'm not sure if the trucks geared or not, the P.O. was my uncle who didn't really get much info from the person he bought the truck from. it feels like it might be geared but I'm not certain, gonna rebuild the rear soon so i guess ill find out. the plenum hasn't been fixed to my knowledge but the truck didn't do this before i had the tranny rebuilt. and johnnyjaws98 i paid just over $1800 for the tranny rebuild

is there surging as well? Meaning does your truck seem like it is slipping out of gear quickly (RPMs jump 200 RPM then back down after a second)? That is your TPS (throttle position sensor). It will also affect the downshifting of your tranny. Also, you could try brushing debris from the linkage on your tranny to the cable and putting some fresh grease on there.

Those are a couple of little things to do.

I have the same problem right now. I need to get a new TPS from the dealership. ONLY get them from the dealership. Aftermarket sensors, especially TPS, IAC and MAP don;t work well on our trucks in the aftermarket. It will run about 47 bucks.

the TPS would almost make more sense to me since every things fine at lower speeds, but wouldn't the TPS throw a CEL?? i haven't really noticed it jump it'll just drop from around 2000 rpms down to a little over a 1000 and just stays there unless you put your foot to the floor

If you put your foot to the floor the rpms kick up and then you can speed up but other than mashing it, you can't make the truck speed up just a little bit by giving it a little more gas. seems to be fine at lower speeds. is this an issue with the tranny rebuild or could it be something else? no CELs anywhere. thanks.

How the heck do you start a thread on this site?? or how do i make a post??????

a new TPS might help your problem. that's what tells the pcm where the gas pedal is. if the old one is a little sluggish or flat, it can fail to notify the pcm of slight changes in throttle position. i've replaced mine a couple of times over this problem. it where you're driving along and come to a hill and the truck begins to slow. you press the gas pedal about 1/4 inch and nothing happens... you press it another 1/4 inch and nothing happens. you press it another 1/4 and all hell breaks loose with downshifting, rpm surge, upshifting, etc. when all you really wanted to do was feed it a little more gas.

however, on the other hand, your big 315 tires and standard 3.55 gears are going to really suck the life out of the trucks get-up-and-go feeling.

^ yeah pretty much what happens, you try to give it a little gas but nothing happens and go a little more all the sudden armageddon happens lol it just never did this before my tranny rebuild which is why i thought it might have something to do with that. and yeah i don't expect it to be a speed machine by any means but it goes when you need it to you'd be surprised even with the big tires

if you think the transmission downshift is a little too sensitive, and it started when your transmission was worked on, you should re-adjust your throttle valve cable.
