Default Death wobble

HI, I have a 99 2500 4x4 with 5.9 Cummings that had the death wobble when I bought it used. I replaced most of the same things you did and also no joy. The steering was also a bit sloppy and I replaced the steering gearbox with a Red Head. That made a huge improvement but I still had a slight wobble when hitting a pot hole at freeway speeds. I took it to a 4 wheel drive shop and they added a shim on the passenger side to increase the camber and that solved my problems with wobble and uneven tire wear. The wobble started to come back recently after 6 years of bliss and it turned out to be the steering stabilizer. Good luck in tracking it down.

Steering stabilizer is just a bandaid for whats really going on. Usually, death wobble is from a worn track bar...... Converting to the third gen style arm solves the problem permanently.

You have slop in the front end somewhere. Lift one or both tires and move them back and forth, See if you can locate it.

Steering stabalizer is NOT the problem. Are you going to believe people that have been working on Mopars for like me 50 years or the garage idiot (not implying anyone here). I have owned 5 Jeeps, XJ, ZJ they had the same steering systems as our 1500's. It is NOT your steering stab, it's just a aftermarket band aid. I have original shocks on my 2001 that are shot (new ones in garage) and I haven't had death wobble yet but I've replace most of the steering components

You haven't replaced the other ball joints? I hope you didn't put in a stock steering. You have something loose. A Gen 3 steering upgrade is a bolt in for the 2001. It comes with new tierod ends and gets rid of the stock "Y" set up. Also get rid of the stock track arm. How are the rubber bushings doing in the track arm and control arms? Worn tires won't be the cause of death wobble, they will set death wobble off though. The next, are the wheel hubs with worn bearings. The next is ball joints on both sides, then the steering tie rods, even the one up by the steering box. How is the tie rod end on the steering box? Does the steering box have a loose sector shaft? Is the steering box tight to the frame. The stabalizer should have tight bushings, if not replace them, this has nothing to do with death wobble though. Not sure how much of a mechanic you are, can you rebuild an engine or I know where the oil dipstick is. You can go thru and make sure ALL bolts/fastners are tight. So now we're talking a bit of money. All parts must be quality parts not Shez Schuan International. These are good for quick/limited duration. Yes, most parts are made in China at the moment so there is that. Research the parts, check the reviews.
