Default Just replaced water pump

99 Dodge 1500 5.2 liter Sport

My Water Pump failed a few weeks ago. I replaced it(Went for 2 long drives seemed fine but its started leaking again)

So i replaced it again tonight along with the thermostat (which did not seat right so that's leaking now)

But the belt (2 years old about 120000 Miles) Is now squealing like crazy i ran it at an idle and WD40 sprayed it.(Only sprayed the belt not the bearings themselves) This stooped the problem at an idle but if i give it any gas the squeal returns. I thought maybe i had put the belt on reverse (i didnt put the grove side one wrong just turned it) So i flipped it. Thinking that maybe with it being and older belt it was worn a certain way. This did not change it squeal continued.

I removed the tension off the belt and spun the tension arm and the rest of the pully's (did not spin the fan pully) everything sounded fine.

Just wondering if anyone has any thoughts (Going to change the belt tomorrow)

an old belt that soaks up anti-freeze can/will start squealing. it is a good idea to unhook the belt from the tensioner and spin all pulleys, making sure none rattle, click, sound ringy, or wobble. also make sure tensioner is very firm.

if all that's good, just replace the belt. try to fix your leak first so you don't contaminate a new belt.
