Default Timing question

Howdy everyone! I Got a quick question maybe someone can tell me.

So i got the 318 v8 5.2L and i believe my timings off a hair. i Recently replaced the cap, and noticed my rotor didn't seem to line up with #1. I Also have a BAD missfire. And sinced the PCM Controls the timing, how do i go about this? is there a manual way? or do i gotta dish out all my money for a tech to do it? Any input is apriciated.

Is your rotor bad? They're really cheap to replace. Had a bad misfire till I replaced my rotor and cap.

Check your wires and spark plugs too before you go shelling out money

Timing is controlled by the PCM. It really isn't adjustable at all. Moving the distributor doesn't do anything at all for ignition...... How many miles on the truck? Might be time for a new timing chain and gears.

Doesn't moving the distributor affect the injector firing timing?

Yup. Moving the distributor WILL change when injectors fire, won't do squat to when the plugs fire though. (unless you turn it too far, and it starts firing the WRONG plug...... )

Fix the plenum.

Do a compression test.

Could be an issue with the CKP. Check & clean the connectors as well as inspecting both it and the pigtail for visible damage.
