My truck had all the symptoms of the dreaded plenum failure so I checked it and it is bad, leaning toward the repair kit from Hughes. I figured while I was at it I would check the codes and a oxygen sensor code came up so I checked the #8 plug, which isn't that old, and found it was completely black which proves that the cat is plugged. Which is the best replacement cat available?

 

MagnaFlow direct fit replacement. Flows better than stock too. Can be found in various places for under 200.00.

 

Best?? Alot of people like either stock replacement or Magnaflow high flow. Some claim either check engine light and/or loss of low end with the high flow.

Cheapest?? Gut the thing. Same side effects as high flow, but doesnt cost anything if you have a welder to weld it back on yourself ( or a section of pipe).

Either way, if you get a cel just do the nonfouler "mod".

As far as brands for OEM?? I dont really know.
