That is waht I am afraid of as well. I have always pulled heads off when one has overheated. Check heads, valve seals, and cylinder walls. Seems that I have seen something that the cyl wall to water jacket is pretty thin on these magnum engines.

yeah, #5 wire has a hot spot on it and picked some wire looms to keep the wires off eachother. when i pulled the heads the off after the overheat I couldn't believe the lack of a lip at the top of the cylinder. we're talking less thank .032in. everything seemed kosher and as far as compression test i didn't want the let down I am going to follow the +1 advice and i'll get back with ya. Thanks a bunch!
