I wanna see a 6BT in a 4000 pound Cadillac.
Barack rocks a Dmax in his caddy that up to a supposed 20k lbs due to armor and extra protection

Diesel in passenger cars can work (Mercedes, VW.....) You just can't go cheap (GMC and Olds) and make it work.

The office also has unlimited resources to make whatever they want work. Why the heck they chose a CrapoMax is beyond me. Obviously a Cummins would be the preferred choice, a 7.3L PowerStroke would be 2nd....

Seeing as how the United States .gov owns a sizeable share of General Motors I tend to agree, but remember, the Cummins is a very tall engine, from the sump to the intake, it's some serious footage. You can't stuff that between the fenders of a Cadillac (or much else really) and line up the flywheel with the driveline and not have it sticking three feet out of the hood.

I've seen Cummins transplanted into Ford Rangers before. And its a tight space as well.

Sure, but you can separate the chassis from the frame and make adjustments in that regard.

I've been over this many times on the Jeepforum with XJ guys who desperately want to run diesels in their Cherokees. I'd love to have one as well, but you are pretty limited to Mercedes OM600 series motors if you want power, longevity, and an economic swap. It's not an easy or even sensible task stuffing a tall Cummins in a unibody vehicle or a vehicle that's supposed to maintain the outward appearance of being an unmodified car.

Anyway, anything can be done with enough money and imagination.

Well after researching hard for a few days I've decided to ditch the idea of the 4bt swap.

Between stiffer springs, exhaust routing, motor mounts, making the starter fit with the mounts, finding a turbo and intercooler, trading transmissions from 46re to nv4500 with new trans mounts, and then you have gauages and electronics to cover...

I don't have the time or money this would take to complete...

Thanks to everyone that helped though

It's an unfortunate realization, isn't it? I've been thru this. I desperately need to **** or get off the pot on a motor decision and I just can't stand the thought of putting money into gasoline power any more.
