If you go to the FAQ/DIY secion you can download a service manual. It will tell how to test the IAC and the TPS and other items.

I can't recall off the top of my head....and I am supposed to be gettting some work done...

Don't know. Probably pretty random as the PCM moves the pintle in/out to adjust idle. Biggest thing is, disconnect the battery, pull IAC, clean out the well REALLY... erm... well.... put IAC back in, reconnect battery, start engine. See what happens. Might take it a few minutes to relearn idle.

The code won't reset, and the PCM needs to relearn the zero value for the new IAC, otherwise, it gets confused, and will take a bit to readjust to the new part. Disconnection the battery makes the PCM forget everything it new about what was what previously, and it will 're-zero' all the various sensors that it depends on. (IAC, TPS) It is indeed an important step.

Yep, with the battery disconnected.

Pulling the throttle body completely off the engine is the best practice. The gasket is only like two bucks.

....and makes it easier to see where and what you are cleaning.

ALWAYS disconnect the battery when removing/replacing any sensor on the truck. Keeps PCM from being confused (more than it may already be....)

Ok guys so I pulled the iacv and cleaned the port. It wasn't too bad. Disconnected the battery and. Put it back together. Before starting it, I ran the obd and still had p0505. Then started and ran and it was good. Seems to idle like it would at normal temp when it was cold.... but anyhow, I disconnected the battery, removed iacv again and put it back in and connected battery and ran obd again. P0505 before I even started it.. is the pcm getting erased or is the pcm sensing a problem before I even start it? If it is, could it even be the iacv? Thanks guys for all the help!
