Default Does 2001 Dodge Ram use R134 Coolant in A/C?

Just trying to verify so I can buy the proper manifold AC gauge kit

It sure does...
There's also a label on the radiator support when you open up your hood that says which refrigerant to use.

all vehicles in the USA or built for the USA since 1994 have used R134a. It was a government regulation placed on auto companies.

prior to 1994 some used R134a, some used R12

Try and find R-12 these days...... You almost need a writ from God to purchase it..... and the a/c in my van wants it......

Im sure you must be aware of the conversion kit right?

I notice that "ditto" is spelled wrong in that emoticon.

Yeah. Conversion kit. R134 isn't exactly cheap either.... although, I will grant that it is cheaper than R12.

10 years ago R12 was like $65/lb of charge. most systems took at least 2.5lbs and you could only get it done by a professional shop which means you pay at least an hour of labor as well...

R12 hasn't been sold in auto parts stores in years.
