Default 2500 power steering gear box in a 1500?

My gear box has started having one hell of a clunk and for all the more they cost for a reman I'm going to try my luck at the junk yard. Can I get a gear box off of a 2500 and have it bolt on and be stronger than a 1500?

I have an 01 ram 1500 4x4.

Not sure if there is any real difference in the steering boxes... but, it should bolt right on.

Keep in mind, ALL the Ram steering boxes have the same issues. Have you tried adjusting up your steering box yet?

The 2500 boxes have a bit stronger bearings and such, doesn't really make much difference. Can't hurt to try though...

I've tried adjusting mine and over time its been getting worse and worse but the clunk comes and goes.

I was just curious if a 2500 gear box would fit assuming it would be stronger.

Should be a direct bolt on.
