dying problem!
Hey guys! Before I start I want to thank all who helped with my p0505 issue. I finally got the check engine light off! Ended up putting the old iacv back in and reset the pcm and cleaned the plugs on it and it did beautifully
Now onto another issue!
Its 2000 ram van 2500 with a 5.2 16x,xxx miles.
My buddy called me and said on the way to smog, it died. It has died 4 times in a short span now. Its 90+ degrees out here and I remember a neon I used to drive liked to die.
I was thinking the ignition control module but I heard that was in the ecm.
It'll start and drive a block or so and die. But it would t start right back up.
They say they hear the fuel pump working like it should.
Any ideas guys? My buddies leave for tour soon and that's the reason why they bought this van!

Check connections at cam and crank sensor. Also, swap ASD relay and horn relay. Probably wouldn't hurt to check fuel pressure either....... Dies, and starts right back up is going to be fun to figger out......
See if you can find out what's missing when it won't start. That will at least give a place to start looking......
No CEL implies a possible PCM problem, or power problem......
ASD = Auto Shutdown Relay. Turns off power to the coil, and injectors, if the PCM doesn't see the engine turning via the cam, or crank sensors. If the relay gets old and weak, it may not stay closed.... thus, the truck dies. All relays are in the Power Distribution Center, somewhere under the hood. (not sure where they actually put it in the vans....)
You might get that lucky, but, don't hold your breath.

Cam sensor is indeed the pickup coil.
No bus implies that PCM is losing signal. Check PCM grounds first.. starts to look more like a cam or crank sensor. At least they are easier to get to in the vans...... (yes, that's jealousy you hear in my typing......
) They are a right pain in the keester on the trucks....

Where is the crank sensor located? And what tests do I run on these and how?
I'm driving the 25 miles now to look at it.
How to I test that shutoff relay?

it did doe a couple more tines but it started back up after fidgeting with that connector. So maybe its getting worn out?
