I think this tranny might be toast. We just did the check valve delete, adjusted tv cable. Just got done road testing. After 10 minutes started acting up, kicking out of overdrive then unlocking converter like its overheating but its not setting the light. It will then have a hard time upshifting, sometimes getting up to 4000 rpm before it shifts. I measured temps in several places with temp gun, saw 185 and 160 right at the lines coming off the tranny. At the cooler, only seeing 125 on both lines. 185 doesnt seem too hot to me being its almost 90 degrees out today.

The ****ty thing is this is a daily driver. Never tows or hauls anything. Thought a transmission on this would make it past 146,000.

We are at a loss right now. Dont have the money for a rebuild but know thats probably what its going to take to fix this thing right. Anyone have any other ideas?

Have you looked inside the pan yet? Might be a failing governor solenoid/sensor.

We have been inside the pan about 3 times. We replaced the sensor and solenoid with stock mopar then replaced again with Borg Warner. Each time we did this, there was no metal at all in pan and the screen on the solenoid was clean. Originally this started out as a 1763 issue. Now, the code doesnt pop up anymore but we are having shifting issues that happens within a couple miles.

Need to put guages on it, and see what pressures are doing.... either that, or bite the bullet, and rebuild it.

You ever get that PDF file figured out? I think it has specific info on the 1763 code that is not just the gov solenoid. IIRC

these transmissions are garbage.... they average about 75,000 miles before failure.... mine failed at 150,000 and I dont know if it had been rebuilt before.... its not uncommon for these trucks to have the tranny rebuilt or replaced multiple times in under 150k...the factory TC arent very good from what I'm told and like to make a mess when they go... add that to the fact that most dont know enough to use the right atf=3-4 fluid or additives which shortens life...

Just an update to the original post. Got sick of messing with it and took to transmission shop. Of course they said it needed rebuilt cause the fluid was burnt and said there was metal in pan. Funny how we had the pan off several times and found no metal and fluid was fine. Now, the transmission is finished but they are having other problems and said the PCM needs replaced. They installed that and I guess still are having issues!! What to you guys think? Was it an internal trans issue or something else?

Did they replace the solenoids in the trans as well? Or are they trying to re-use the old parts? (bad plan if they are.)

If everything is new, they probably got the cheapest set they could find..... which may be the problem......

Sounds like these were just some folks that didn't really know what the problem was, and figgered a rebuild would solve the issue.... when it didn't, they had to blame something else...... I would be real leary of these guys..... they are going to keep throwing parts at it, until something finally fixes it. (which was probably the original problem all along....) And of course, it will be on your dime.

When they lied to you about burnt fluid, and metal shavings, that should have been your cue to pick up your truck, and take it somewhere else.
