My whole dash splintered
I wanted to fix my air conditioning and to glue my cracked dash back togeter. I removed the dash as gently as I could, and it pretty much shattered. I know LMC sells reproduction dash tops for around $200 or so, but what about the sub-structure? It's shot to oblivion, so bad that my light switch and radio were falling out. I wanted to fiberglass mine back together... Any thoughts? I need a low budget fix. Thanks!
Is there an aftermarket sub-system for the dash? That's what I'm wondering. I have yet to see a whole, un-shattered dash. 4X4's just have a harder time. I can fiberglass, but I don't know about a new peice.
JY is going to be about the only option.... I haven't seen them in the aftermarket, and the dealer wants an arm, leg, half your soul, first born male child, and 15% of your income for the rest of your life. (into the second generation as well....)

I put a replacement dash, a paint to match replacement...not a cap, in a friend's '99 Ram. The old one just shattered. I saved the rubber side pieces and the vents, painted the new dash to match, and installed it. Everything went in nicely though getting the screws into the supports under it was tricky.
My 1998 Ram, which was garaged it's whole life, has a perfect dash in it. It's not cracked or brittle at all. Seems the sun is it's enemy.
As far as support structure...I don't see the issue. The dash and the face panel all screw and clip to the main structure which is metal.
