Default Cable operated cable accuator

I have a96 4x4 thinking of going from vacume to the 4whrel dive to cable operated please any input/output on it

Im glad I made the switch, the only negative I have is it not engaging while sitting still. So what I learned (the hard way) is engage it LONG before you need it. And I definitely like having 2low!

I have been pricing the stuff and it's only $60 more the going to get an accuator I'm so tired of this vacume **** always going out

There are some out there on the web, for right around 2 bills. Or, I have heard tell of folks doing their own with a locking throttle cable from NAPA...... Might even be a DIY out there somewhere for it.

Posi-loc. (yeah, that's it....) Strikes me as a Great Idea. (yes, with capital letters....)

Yeah found it for around $160 tal 4x4 looks like an awesome way to go I think I'm going to do it

I found the leak on the lines and getting vacume but nothing to the front end oslo I'm assuming it's the acuator the prongs sticking off u put the vacume lined on are kinda rusted on the inside of them so I'm guessing it's messed up and not working

yep, that's what they do best.

if you want to fix it, its pretty simple inside. PB Blaster the 4 little break-prone bolts for several days. put a catch pan under the cad and remove it. about a cup or less of gear oil will drain out. take the cad to the work bench for repair. note the orientation of the bend in the fork!!! rig up a vac source to the ports and test it. if it doesn't slide the fork back and forth - that's your problem. remove the e-clips and inspect/clean the sticky-prone shaft. get it working on the bench, then re-install. remove the old gasket and reseal with RTV.

after you fix it a couple of times and get tired of working on it, get a posilok cable.
