All,

I have good news and bad news, and good news.

Well, it was the cat converter. It was half plugged and the engine was producing half power. Inlet temps were 470 and outlet temp was 250, big issue. New cat, pulled great. Accelerated like anything pulling a 4700 lb trailer.

That is, until Blue Ridge, Ga when I met a resident of the area who made a rather poor timed and ill conceived left turn in front of me pulling the trailer. I had 150' to stop. Unfortunately, a 9000lb of truck and trailer can't do that, even with downshifting, performance brakes and trailer brake assist. Truck totaled.

Amazingly, the trailer did not jacknife.

However, I just bought a 2007 Ram with the 4.7 L, needs a cat. Now, to customize all over again.

so thanks for the assist and information. I'll be looking for info on the 4.7 now.

Pics of carnage? Seems like lots of trucks getting wrecked around here lately...

Glad you are okay. Does the new truck have three pedals as well? Or did you conform and buy an auto?

That is terrible! I hope you were ok though. Sucks to hear so many 2nd gens dying away. I pray mine doesn't face the same fate. I drive like a grandma when traffic is around to avoid the many, many morons on the road.

The 07 4.7 is fine. Friend has a 02 4.7 with 3500 and he loves it. Hasn't had an issue at all. The holy grail is the 08 4.7 HO with the 6spd getrag. That puppy is the ONLY year to have the high hp AND the manual as they discontinued it in 09. Too bad the seats suck on late 3rd gens. But best of luck to ya, at least you stayed Dodge!

Btw, my truck did wonderful moving out of TX with the trailer. Got 10-11mpg and towed great.

You sure your friend doesn't have a 5.7?
