Default ecu replacement!

hey guys!

my buddies have a 2000 dodge ram 2500 van with a 5.2

it needs an ecu.

these mount under the hood above the engine.

is there a way to make the ecu from a ram pickup with a 5.2 work on this van?

where is the ecu located on these?

i was thinking worst case scenario, if itll plug in, how hard would it be to swap the internals on them?

I should think the truck PCM's are the same as the van. In the truck, its on the passenger side of the firewall, right next to the engine. You will have to get any new PCM reflashed to the Van's VIN. (else, various warning lights will stay on.

I don't think swapping internals is really an option.....

It will run fine, but, it needs to be flashed to the correct VIN, otherwise, ABS, and Air Bag lites stay on....... (and of course, those system don't work....)

Call around to the shops in your area, see who can do it. Dealer certainly can, whether they WILL or not, is open to question. (they want to sell you their 1200 dollar PCM.....)

now with the abs disabled for a few weeks, is there any chance of irreversible damage to the abs system?
