Default Ticking Clutch

I was idling in neutral next to a building over the weekend when I heard a ticking noise coming from the truck. I couldn’t quite figure out where the sound was coming from until I put my foot back on the clutch pedal and started to depress it. After fooling around for a bit, I found that even the slightest bit of pressure on the clutch pedal caused the ticking sound to stop. The only time it seems to be happening is while the trans is in neutral and the pedal isn’t depressed. It doesn’t seem to be making the noise while the truck is in motion, or maybe it is and I just can’t hear it over the road noise. I checked to make sure the clutch reservoir was full and the lines weren’t leaking, and searching on the forum didn’t yield a whole lot. Any input would be appreciated.

Probably the throwout bearing. Mine did the same thing and that's what it was.

Looks like I'll be spending some time under the truck again. Thanks for the info.

If your in it that far, unless the clutch is fairly new I'd put a new whole clutch kit in it. Because if it were me a month down the road I'd need a clutch

+1. And do it soon. I had to change the clutch out in my Yota about two months ago...in a hotel parking lot 200 miles from home! That was fun....

That's what I was thinking. If I'm going to the trouble of taking all that heavy stuff under there apart, everything that's going back in is going to be new. Problem is that I'm neck deep into a kitchen remodel and really don't have time to be messing around with the Big Orange Wreck. I may end up farming this one out if I can find a decent price. For what I paid for the truck and for what it's worth, I hate to pay someone to work on it though. Decision time I reckon.
