Default 99 dodge timming question.

so i just had a 5.2 motor rebuilt. and i think the intermedit shaft was off a tooth when the guy put it in. so i pulled out and put it back after setting everything to tdc. Is there another way to check that i have it in the correct spot?

Distributor has nothing to do with ignition timing. Cam sensor (pickup coil) has everything to do with fuel sync. (when the injectors fire.) You need a scan tool that can read fuel sync to set it correctly.

Was the rotor pointed at the number one cylinder (marked on cap....) and are you sure number one was in firing position when you set it?

i understand its non adjustable but if your off one tooth the motor will still run... so how do i know i am correct or not?

yes the motor was on TDC compression stroke. and it points at number one.

will a snap on scan too set fuel sink or do i need the oem DBR scanner?

Snappy scanner should take care of it. Intermediate shaft being a tad bit off isn't a big deal. So long as you can get fuel sync to zero, and the rotor is close to being centered on the "pin" when the coil fires, everything is good.
