Not true.

Use Mopar Engine Conditioner or Sea Foam frequently. Replace the gasket with a metal one, not the former OEM fabric/cork type.

Doing everything else correct on the install, get new plenum bolts AND manifold-to-block bolts, and new gaskets for the manifold-to-block.

But....
In the plenum thread, the reason as to why the gasket fails is basically because of the two different metals expanding/contracting at different rates. Replacing with an aluminum plate would end that, no? And of course using a metal gasket in place of the cork one will help out.

That conclusion has never been proven and quite of few people have disagreed with that assumption. Ask yourself....when looking at a plenum gasket, which way is it going? Then ask yourself why?

Why use new intake manifold bolts when it's only 12 ft lbs?

I've reused the same button top SS bolts since 2004 through numerous intake changes.

If 12 ft lbs can stretch a bolt, it's made out of lead. How the bolts are torqued is the key.

+1 on these posts,

Why would you not use new intake bolts they are like $7 for a set, they rust, they break off in the head, it would cost more in gas to go get them than what they are worth, so why not have them on hand when the job is started.

Why not...? Not needed.

But Hey, AJ (Alan Johnson) could use the sponsorship money, so go for it.

SCT is the tuner you want for max torque increase.

Wh1t3 - I just had a discussion with Sooper about the whole plenum thing in this thread. May shed a bit of light on the subject...

Also, good to see you posting here often again lately

Hmm. Timing set made a big difference? How many miles on it when you changed it?
