Default What gear ratio is my truck? (photo attached)

Gentlemen,

Truck is a 99 2500 V10 4x4. Below is a photo of the tag on the transfer case.

I see a bunch of numbers but what looks like 4.10? Was that an option for this year? Someone told me stock was 3.55 which sounded pretty high for a 4wd.

Thanks.

Eddie

That appears to be 4.10. Yes, some v10s did have 3.55 for stock. To be more sure, find the BOM number. It's typically located on axle tube, passenger side iirc. Then you can search for the specs of that particular axle.

I just read again that OP said tag on TRANSFER CASE, but the picture appears to be the differential housing....

@gdstock -- good point, unless the axles were swapped. Who knows with little info from the OP. lol

Yes I may go the build sheet route. I bought this truck from someone who bought it from someone else and doesn't know the history of the truck so I am trying to find out what I can.

And yes, when I said transfer case I meant front differential. I have tried the other methods, but there are no stickers left on this truck. I really don't want to jack it up and count the revolutions but I may do that tomorrow anyway since I want to check for LSD.

I gave you a link where the 2nd post gives a link to Dana axle information.

The BOM number is not a sticker. It's engraved into the axle tube. It tells you everything about the axle i.e., specs. BOM = Bill of Material. Get dirty you noob!!

Dude if I chipped all the caked on oil and grease off this vehicle I would have enough asphalt to redo my block. I have to do it at some point though. It took me 15 minutes in 100 degree heat to expose the tag on the differential.

I emailed dodge for the build sheet. Tomorrow I will jack it up and look for the BOM.

That is 4:10. Unless someone changed it, but not likely. Why go backwards....

Unless it had huge tires on it, not likely someone would have regeared.

Pull the diff cover get the numbers off the ring gear and go from there. That is the only way to tell for sure.

+1. Not to mention if you raise the axle off the ground. Turn a wheel and count the revolutions of the driveshaft.
