Default Sending unit backwards?

Well I think that my sending unit may be backwards on my '96 Dodge Ram 1500. When I accelerate or drive up hill the gas gauge says I have less fuel and every other vehicle I have driven says it had more fuel when it is gassed or drives up hill.

I bought the truck used and the old owner said he had the fuel pump replaced, could it have been put in backwards or is that the way that it is supposed to be with this truck?

Thanks.

Works the same way on mine. All it is is the orientation of the float in relation to which way the gas is flowing. Pump module can only be installed one way, as any other way, the outlet would be pointing in the wrong direction.

Mine is pretty stable above 1/4 tank, below that... and it floats pretty good.
