Default 2000 1500 rear end swap

I have a 2000 4x4 with a bad rear end. I would like to see if I can swap it for the rear end out of a 2500 or a 3500 pu. Is that doable?

the search function is a wonderful thing! you should give it a try before starting a new thread on the already beaten to death subject!

yes, but the leaf springs on 1500 are 2-1/2 inch and a 2500 is 3 inch, so you have to either put the 1500 springs on the 2500 axle or move the 2500 springs to your body and change the spring hangers.

you might also need a drive shaft or yoke mod.

also watch your gears. must have the same in front and rear.

everything else is probably the same, but watch for the year model. i'm not sure when the rear diff speed sensor was intro'd.
