rear end trouble
WTF is that all about! Run run fast find another shop those prices are nut's. Do the job yourself, axle bearings are ez, it will be the pinion bearing that is the grief point of this job. Just because you take the rear carrier out of the diff does not mean you have to change every bearing in there. I have had mine apart lot's if you would like some tips pm me.
Edit: Start by changing the cross-joints out yourself, you might just be surprised at the out come. With the drive-shaft out grab the pinion yoke and try to move it side to side and up and down, in out, if the truck is jacked up and on stands spin things, listen close and you should find what ever grind.
*Mark everything on the drive-shaft before you take it apart, so as you keep it in phase.

Thanks boss. However, it wouldn't be running as good as it does w/o you.

On a second note about that shop. I payed $600 labor to Pro Auto to install my 4.56 gears front and rear. That is a lot more work than what they are going to do. I can't remember what I paid for the gears, installation kit and bearings though.
Update-
I got everything tore apart and just waiting for parts to arrive in the mail. I ordered the bearings, races, and new spicer clutch packs. Also some other odds and ends, nuts bolts etc.
Here is the junk found during disassembly. One of the bearing cages was broken and two of the rollers were out, forgot to take a pic of that before it went in the dumpster. So far I'm only out about $200 and part of that was a inch pound torque wrench I bought to set pinion pre load
