Default Fuel gauge reads full all the time

Weirdest thing happened to me the other day. I was driving my 1999 Dodge Ram 1500 with the 5.2L v8, and the fuel gauge was working just fine. I went to the gas station and filled up the tank. The gauge had jumped to full, as it should have. After driving for a few days I noticed that the tank is still full, or so the gauge says. I would really like to believe that the tank is full all the time, however on the other hand I would prefer to know when I need more gas. Anyone have a solution for this?
Thanks guys

What are you complaining about???? You have a Gas Fairy that keeps the tank topped off. I want one of those

Sorry I can't be of more help, but I would SERIOUSLY think about leaving a full gas can in the bed of the truck until you get this figured out. It really sucks to run out of gas especially if you don't have a gas can in the truck.

Good luck,
Zac

I have never heard of tapping the side with a rubber mallet. What would that do? Also, where would I be hitting the tank?

Thump it on the bottom a couple times. (not real hard though....) Float may be stuck.
