i have the chance right now to trade my gaser for a cummins only problem is this cummins has 450,000 miles its the 5.9 motor too.......new parts: vp44 injection pump,turbo, exhaust manifold, head gasket, ball joints, bearings, batteries, head light lenses, fuel lines(return), fuel filter, trans serviced, tires, rear heavy duty bumper, and the head was completely rebuilt last month and the radiator was washed both were done perfessionaly .........questiion is should i trade or not

 

My biggest concern outside of the things you can actually see and hold and touch...are the rings and bearings. I saw no mention of bottom end work.

If it were me I would use a mechanical gauge and get an actual oil pressure reading at idle when both cold and hot, and at varying RPM ranges both cold and hot. That's key...the condition of the bearings in the rotating assembly.

Next, compression test both dry and with a squirt of oil...and a leak down test. Those tests won't tell you exactly what's going on but it'll sure clue you in to any red flags that may need to be raised for you to know if the engine in the truck is worth the purchase / trade.
