It's been a while since I've had any problems and the problems that I do have I can usually fix on my own. This one has defeated me.

A few months ago, my father-in-law decided to hang about 40 pounds of clothes on one of the clothes hangers in the rear and it just fell out of the hole. It was in tact, it just fell out. I tried for weeks off and on to get it back in and its physically too small to fit in that hole. So yesterday I ended up taking a rubber mallot to it and it just broke. The hole that it goes into is literally about 1/2 the size it needs to be, and there isn't much give on the hanger. What's the secret to getting these things in there?

I know you all deal with REAL problems all of the time like plenums and exhaust and water pumps, but I'm one of those people that can't sleep if something is wrong with my truck - regardless of the size of the issue. I was just born that way. Lol.

Truck is a '01 4X4 Quad 1500.

 

Try getting another hook.

And I know how you feel, my mom thought that is was a pull handle and ripped it out when trying to get into the backseat.

 

I once killed a six-pack just to watch it die.

 

LOL.

I was going to pick up another hook because this one is broke now. When I get it I'm going to have to figure out the little thing. It comes apart - maybe there is a trick to not putting it all the way together until it's fully inserted.

It seems about once a year I have to take a project day to fix all the little crap on the inside cab of the truck. This year it's the hook and now one of my overhead console lights. I already fixed that once.

So...hooks have a 40 lb weight limit. Good to know. BTW - What in the world weights 40 lbs that you needed to hang from that hook? Day's catch at the lake?

 

Don't assume 40 lbs. is the limit. I would go much lower than that. The thing is made to hang a shirt or two on there, not a whole closet full like what SOME people must think.

We were moving last year and my in-laws were helping us. My father-in-law has this nifty little device that allows you to hang your whole frickin' closet on it, then you hang that thing on a hook. Needless to say, it isn't going to hold that much weight.

I wouldn't put more than 10 lbs. on it or so. One of my motorcycle jackets weighs about that much and that's about as far as I would go.

 

Now that I think about it, I don't think I have ever hung anything on one of those hooks...in any car, except maybe a girl's panties.

 

And said panties happened to land there by chance, right?

 

No that was kind of our "Do not disturb" sign. LOL.
