Default Tranny question

I have a 99 ram and I had my transmission rebuilt. I dont drive my truck much due to having a work truck. When my truck sits for awhile and I get in it and try to go it kind of hesitant on moving. Anyone know what this would be or if this is normal? Also sometimes it wont start in park i have to put it in neutral. Is there something I can adjust? thanks

Did they delete the check valve? If they did then that explains the hesitation. Try puttin in in nuetral first for about 15 sec to give it time to fill torque converter back up.

+1... I'd check the fluid level any way for the hell of it. Hot and in neutral.

$1500 and you don't know what they did? Hmm Call ask them for a build sheet of what they did to your truck.

starting in park or neutral is controlled by "neutral safety switch". drivers side of transmission.

a condition called torque converter drainback can cause the torque converter to drain its fluid. solution/workaround is to let the engine run in neutral for about a minute or so to pump it back full of fluid. pump doesn't run in park.

+1 on what has been said about letting it idle in neutral for a minute (or less) to refill TC.

The linkage is probably misadjusted. a mere 1/32" out of adjustment can keep it from starting in park. Put truck in park, loosen bold on linkage rod. Make sure to push lever all the way into stop position and retighten bolt. ( I think it is a 12mm bolt.) Check and see if it will start in park now. Other option is to take it back to shop that rebuilt tranny....
