Default No horn or instrument lights

Out of the blue I have no horn or lighting for all gauges. Cruise control and it's indicator lite work. All other lights work that come on momentarily when starting truck. I did find a blown 20 amp fuse, replaced and still nothing. Swapped relays and checked relay pins for power. Got power and it's not relay. Did replace negative battery post connector over the weekend, but see no connection. One thing after another!

Check chassis grounds. Also, dash lights are on same circuit as tail lights (so driver knows tails are out). Check and see if you have tail lights.

Do you have service manual from FAQ/DIY section? I cannot remember how the circuit is wired. Also, which fuse panel did you check? Both of them?

Do you have tilt wheel? Might want to pull knee panel from under column and check. Wires like to get pinched under there.

Got no tailights either.. Blown fuse was in side panel in cab. Maybe try different fuse just to make sure.

Maybe check wiring behind headlight switch. Something caused fuse to blow.

Fuses under hood as well.

Also, many have reported swtich melting down. Pull bezel (carefully or it will crack) and remove head light switch and look at backside.

The fuse i replaced hasn't blown again, which, if it would, might point the way more clearly. There is a fuse common to the a/c and horn. My a/c works fine, headlights work fine. Next stop, wires under the column. The dome lights work and that also controls the brightness of instrument gauges. Hmmmm...

You have to check the switch. I had a bad multifunction switch. It had a melted burned spot on the plug for one of the connectors. I am sure the previous owner probably had a fuse blow when that thing went.

I replaced the multifunction switch and my headlights are now completely functional. I am guessing that if pull your headlight switch you'll see some physical evidence. If not, it could still be bad inside. They aren't expensive. I'd talk to your local auto parts place to see if you plug it in just to test your old one if you can return it if it doesn't fix the problem. Mine let me do that even though they have a no return policy on electric parts if they are plugged in at all.

Good luck.

Are you sure there is fuel in the tank?
