Default Front drive shaft spins freely

Just wondering if the front driveshaft should be able to shift freely by hand. I have it in 2HI, Also noticed some leaking underneath, Just wondering if this is normal? Thanks,Alec

Mine spins freely and the leak could be from the front pinion seal. Does it smell like gear oil?

Alright just was checking, Doesn't really smell like gear oil, I do know my oil pan has a gasket leak, Right now I have a bad front axel seal, So Ive been adding some gear oil in the front diff at least once a week, Planning on getting my front axle seal fixed soon. Thanks btw

^^ I disagree. We are talking about an old dodge 4x4 here, so leaks are VERY normal LOL...

OP, its probably just an oil leak making its way to the ground somewhere...

keep the front diff full, or close to full, or it will ruin the bearings and cost you a bundle. it doesn't hold much, probably 2 quarts.
