Default AC is on life support.

Whats up guys? So today as I was sitting in traffic the AC died out on me. Weird thing is it had done this a little bit in the past but all I had to do was romp on the gas and it started blowing again. As of right now..it spits out a little bit of cold air but only at cruising speed, as soon as I slow down it quits out. Anyone have this problem before? I think I am looking at having to either buy a new compressor or fan motor? Its pretty annoying I have basically redone this whole truck within the last year seems like its hell bent on bank rupting me. Soon as I fix something something else gives out. I get it its an older truck but the frustrations still there.

Sounds like what my 3rd gen did.. they replaced the clutch on my a/c unit and brought it back online... I'd take it to your local A/C pros and get them to diangose it.

Does the air get warmer, or do you lose air flow?

Hey guys thanks for the replies. I thought it could be the wild vents too but they supposedly fixed that the last time around. The air doesn't get warmer it just stops blowing altogether its a pretty crappy situation considering I am currently living in Phoenix. Its a gamble with death to drive anywhere without A/C in this infernal city. I am sure the AC guys will fix it I just don't trust other people to work on this pig but A/C im not familiar with.

Your compressor will have nothing to do with it then. If you still hear the blower running, then you still have wild vents. Next time, check to see if the air is blowing out the defrost vents..... that will verify your problem.

I got nothing. There is no sound from the blower motor at all. There is no air coming from any vents either hot or cold there's nothing. The day it went out on me I left it in my garage and turned it on later that night n it seemed to be working, but as soon as i put it in gear it went out again. So maybe the clutch?? I am going in to look at a new cummins today anyway. Ill let the pig sit in the garage n think about what its done for a few days haha.
