Default Tranny Issues

2000 Dodge Ram 1500, auto trans, 4x4, tranny slips especially when going over 50 MPH seems really bad. Anytime I go to a shop they don't look at it and just tell me to replace the tranny. Was going to start with a fluid flush, any other suggestions?

OK. Rebuild may be in order, but take it slow to start.

Stop driving. Slipping will get worse.

What is fluid level? Are you checking it in Neutral?

Do not flush...that will just make the problem worse.

Drop pan and filter. What do you see inside? Does fluid smell burned? Any chuncks in there?
