Default Rear end swap

I've already done a search and couldn't find anything specific to what I'm doing... Does anyone know of a complete write up DIY on swapping rear axles on a 2001 Dodge Ram? I'm more then likely getting the rear axle out of a 98 SST with 3.92's tomorrow and wanna make sure I do it all right the first time. Thanks.

It's pretty simple. Unbolt one, bolt in the other, bleed brakes, do burnout.

Nice looking Ram by the way. How's the interior? Being an OK truck...

I was wanting to mainly see how to disconnect the brake lines and E-brake lines and reconnect them.

And thanks, I'd give the interior about a 7 out of 10 just because the lady that I bought it from smoked in it... But I'll be re-doing interior eventually just because it'll be about the only thing that hasn't been modded by then lol

I read another thread saying that the speed sensor connecter and e-brake cables might be different... What do I need to do to get around that?

To disconnect the e-brake cables you will need to take off the brake drum. Go to a auto parts store and buy a $18 book, I did it and it was the best piece of equipment I have. If both rear ends are 9.25 then they will work, I dont see why they would be different if they would be the exact same rear end. Unless one truck is longer than the other then the e-brake lines might be longer/shorter depending on the truck it came out of.

Update:
I got the axle the other night. I opened up the diff cover and looked at the gears, they looked perfect! Axle is fine to. The guy I got the axle from said he drove it for another 6 months after the wreck. It mainly f'd up the cab and some of the bed.

I looked at and compared the axle on my truck and the one I got and they look to be the same. Brake cables are in the same place, sensors are both on top of the differential, so I think it'll be a pretty straight-forward swap.

I'm hoping to get some time this week to do the swap. I'll let you all know how it goes.

hey man where at in OK are you? i might be able to come help ya, but its pretty simple, unbolt driveshaft, unbolt the shocks, unbolt the u bolts, and then un-do the 2 metal brake lines on the axle junction, or you can just take the whole junction off and re-use it. as for the speed sensor, the plugs might be different, but i would just re-use the one you have now so you can just plug it back in without splicing the plugs.
