In the middle of dealing with a hassle and not sure what the path of least resistance is. I got this kit for my 98 2500 Gas Long bed: http://www.summitracing.com/parts/SUM-685012/ I think I must be the first one to buy this because there seems to be some thought left out of it. It says to remove old exhaust from the cat back and replace the two peice intermediate pipe with one long section. That is great except there is a bung for the o2 sensor that wasn't provided on the new pipe. Summit is great, they offered to refund the price of the bung install, but not really sure it is worth the hassle. I think I may return it and get this: http://www.summitracing.com/parts/GIB-316572/ It seems to be a better design but you don't replace the intermediate pipe. I am not looking for better sound or performance. Just trying to replace a stock system.

First off, welcome back man.

The pipe with the bung coming off the cat is part of the cat. The pipe after that (between it and the muffler) is the intermediate pipe. They come in different lengths depending on the truck length. If the exhaust has been modified it may get more confusing.
