Alright, I am preparing to get a salvage yard motor for my 98 dodge ram 1500 4x2 5.2l. I have found several, of course different years. As far as I know, any of the 96-01 5.2 motors should work, but I wanted confirmation. Are there any differences (sensors, pcm programming, etc.)? Also, will 5.2l motors from the dodge vans and durangos work fine? As far as I know, they will. I've searched through the forum and can't seem to find a definite answer. Any help is appreciated!

 

Any 5.2 magnum will work. If you get a 94-95 you will have to swap intake manifolds and the sonsors on it.

 

As Quad said, but it would also be a good idea to use the flex plate and TC(a new TC ) from the 98. And quite possibly the crank pulley. All depends on what year motor you actually get for replacement.
