So you guys think it's the idler pulley, or should I keep looking? Also, if it is, how should I go about fixing it? Again, I have no experience with pulleys or belts.

pull the belt, and unbolt it.... only 1 bolt is used to mount it. 14mm, or 9/16 socket will do the job.

also, as dhvaughan said, remove the belt, and start the engine to make sure its that before you start throwing parts at it.

don't replace anything yet.
just remove the belt and check everything.

I checked today and it was the idler pulley. Replaced it and it sounds "normal" now.

Yea they are simple and cheap to replace. Glad ya got it figured out
