sanded engine?

2000 ram 1500 360. had a broken air filter housing for who knows how long. could I have permanently damaged the motor And only fixed by rebuild or new motor? or is there a way to get all that crap out of there?

How much crud got in there? If sand scored cylinders, there is no easy fix. Do wet compression test and leak down to see.
