Default 99 2500 problems

Havent posted in a while but recently i have ran into a few issues that have me puzzled. I have a 1999 2500 360 5spd 4x4 w/ 108k that i have done quite a bit of work to since i bought it. When i first got her she was using a lot of oil and previously having a different 99 w a 318 in it i naturally figured it was the plenum. So i ordered quite a list of parts to replace since i was goin in deep anyways. Hughes aluminum plenum, new water pump, double roller timing chain, all new gaskets oil pan valve covers etc.

Until recently i had only gone on short trips 30 to 40 miles or so and even after the plenum she is still using oil not near as much, and i took it on a long drive for the first time constant highway for a round trip of 225 miles. About 10 miles from being back home i was in 4th going down a hill and let off the gas and when i went to get back on it there was nothing pushed in the clutch and just died rolled up to the stop sign and started it and fired right up just fine. drove about another mile same senario except this time when i went to get back on the gas same thing happend but i feathered the throttle and it came back but gave a really hard buck and was alright unless you let off the gas. Got just about home and i was playing with it on the way and i kind of came out of it but is still wierd it would actually idle but irradic up and down not steady. The past few days i have been playing w it some more and it is not near as bad as that day. It hasnt died completly but the idle is goofy as ever some times it does just fine steady normal, others its low and iratic and a couple times high constant idle. While driving same thing when letting off bucks when going back on but not nearly as hard as the first time but still very noticeable, it also will randomly have a high idle when in neutral going down a hill for example.

So i started checking things out- no cel, fuel pressure steady 49, checked the pcv, pulled the air cleaner and checked the tb nothing out of the ordinary looked clean, pulled the iac looked spotless cleaned it and the tb anyways, didnt see any oil in the intake, here are the things i did find out of the ordinary when i took out the air filter on the drivers side the corner was oil soaked coming from the hose that goes to the valve cover, it is still using oil and some times it will spit out a lot of black residue out of the exhaust( was standing right in front of it getting something out of the box and pants were spray painted black), it will also smoke (what looks white but is actually blue) at inital start up but wont when it is warmed up but randomly as well sometimes wont smoke at all. My next step is to check the tps, and probly just get a new one anyways. If anyone can offer any further enlightenment on these combined issues it would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks

How do plugs look? I would change PCV again with one from dealer.

Valve seals may be bad.

Tedious, but, with the right tools, not to bad. Time consuming more than anything else.

I have not changed valve seals on a Ram, but I have on other vehicles. I agree with HeyYou, not difficult, just tedious.

I like to use compressed air to hold valve up in place.

I would check service manual and see if procedure is listed there. In case you don't have it, it can be found in the FAQ/DIY section.

Any idea why my air filter is getting oil on it?? Would that be from bad valve seals?

All of your dying symptoms sound identical to when my Throttle Position Sensor went bad.

Did you replace the pcv valve? (get one from dealer). Oil on the air filter is from blow by or possibly excess pressure from bad PCV. And some is normal anyway. I see you did everything except replace o2(s) and the cat. If the plenum was blown neither will be good.
