Default 1996 Ram 1500 P1899 code?

Well my Check Engine light came on yesterday and I plugged my code-reader and it gave me the code P1899 and said "No DTC definition." What does this mean? How do I fix it? It seems to run just fine...

Thanks.

It means "Park/Neutral switch stuck in Park or gear". I guess the hot ticket would be to test it with an ohmmeter to see if it is indeed stuck, and proceed from there.

It seems to drive and park fine? Wouldn't that effect that? And where is it located on the truck?

Thanks.

Right below where the shift linkage hits the trans. Do your reverse lights work?

Well, I just did some Googleing, then I pulled the switch. And my truck was able to start in drive, which is what I read as one of the symptoms. So I am assuming that the switch was bad, I did not check the reverse lights.

Thanks.

Thanks for the help everyone! I just finished replacing the switch, cleared the codes, and the light is off! Thanks!
