Default Trouble code P1494

Hi,
Im trying to track down and fix a problem that keeps giving me trouble code P1494 which is
for EVAP LDP Pressure Switch Fault Conditions...

I have checked wiring, checked all hoses, replaced gas cap and still can not get rid of this code.

Can anybody help with this? It would be appreciated.

Thank you

Having info on your truck in your signature helps people to help you with your problems...

Did you take a look at the LDP itself? As well as the other odd looking plastic canisters? Make sure all the hoses are good and the canisters aren't cracked or plugged up. Wouldn't hurt either to take a look at the charcoal canister and make sure everything there is intact.

Info added to signature.

Not sure how to check the ldp itself?
I have checked wiring, hoses and cant see a problem externally with any of the canisters.
Everything around the charcoal canister look good as well.

Thank you

Check the canister itself for cracks again. Remove the hoses and see if you have any charcoal in them. And I could be wrong, but I don't think a 98 with a 318 has a leak detection pump(unless cali emissions) , only a purge solenoid . Either way , download the service manual from the FAQ/DIY section and see whats in it.

Hi zman,
I'll double check the canisters again and recheck the hoses for charcoal...there wasnt any that i recall when i first checked.

Mine does have an LDP...your right im in Cali

I have been using the service manual for the 2001 that i got from here although the circuit for the ldp seems to be different the rest has matched up pretty close.

Thank you
