5.2 has no power at low rpm
I just bought my first dodge it has 120000 miles and the guy said he just replaced the plenum (I know he had it off cause he painted it lime green)The truck is a 99 1500 with the 5.2. It has dual exhaust no cats and flow master mufflers. It now has 33x12.50 tires and 456 gears. I get the same mpg with the 33s as I did with stock tires and 350 gears (13mpg and that is easy driving like grandpa) the truck has no low end power and when it shifts to drive that's all you got the rpms are low and it don't have the ***** to go. Is this all dodges or do I have a problem? And what can I do to fix it? Thanks
The guy fixed the plenum with...? A new 1/4" thick aluminum pan, new gaskets, bolts, etc? If not the plenum isn't fixed.
Still take a look into the intake with the TB off for pooled oil.
Other than that, your just looking at a dodge ram..theyre not fast.

The 5.2L was never really known for "power" and 'get up and go' I mean it's only 225 HP stock and that's at the Crank rating I do think..
3.0L Ford Vulcan V6 was rated at 196HP in a Ford Taurus.. just to put it in perspective.
